LinkedIn is once again testing an alternative feed approach as it looks for more ways to help users find relevant conversations and engage with each other.
Last Friday, LinkedIn's Chief Product Officer Hari Srinivasan announced a trial run of a Network tab as an alternative to the main LinkedIn feed.

As explained by Srinivasan: “The Network tab helps you stay connected to your network, ie the people you have explicitly connected or followed. We all want more real connection with real people, and we hope this plays a small part in rebuilding that world.”
Real connection with real people has become a bigger focus for LinkedIn of late, as it looks to address concerns with engagement pods which are designed to artificially inflate post stats, as well as AI-generated content clogging up user feeds.
Maybe a dedicated feed of updates from connections will help alleviate some of this, while also providing a more direct overview of updates from the people users actually know.
Though given the platform’s previous alternative feed tests, the prospects of this one catching on seem slim.
Last year, LinkedIn experimented with various alternative feeds in order to expand usage of the app.

In June this year, LinkedIn also tried out topic-based suggested feeds designed to connect users with trending conversations.

Both of these tests evidently didn’t pan out as LinkedIn hoped, as they haven’t seen an expanded launch.
Maybe the Network feed will fare better by providing a more direct pathway to personal connections.
